AUTHORIZED ECONOMIC OPERATOR

The Authorized Economic Operator is an engaged part on the international loads handling that places itself on the safety programs context created by each country, based on the AEO logistics chain security recommendations.
The implementation of an AEO program aims bigger security and competitiveness to the country. To these factors be intrinsic on the Foreign Trade practices, it’s not enough only to implement procedures and rules to the sector as a whole. It’s necessary to focus on the logistics chain’s actors that take care of the loads handling, since they are the ones who guarantee that the goods will not be violated or damaged. That’s why the need for AEO actors.
To the customs authority, AEO companies previously attend to minimum safety standards, established inside of each country’s programs. These companies have proven their reliability and predictability on its drives, and because of this, the customs doesn’t need to supervise them with such frequency. They can, instead, focus their efforts on companies that don’t meet standards and minimum safety rules, and consequently, do not own the AEO status, possible offering more risks on its loads and operations.
The requirements to become an AEO are strict and require a high degree of the company’s commitment with safety standards on many sectors, whether on a load handling level or on a customs flow operation workers level.
